The Vintage, boasts seven stunning chandeliers from Spanish design house Becara, silk champagne draperies and over-scaled mirrors to complement the dramatic floor to ceiling windows and rich architectural detailing. The Modern, with its ornate, gold-leafed ceiling, almost-black wood casings, and crisp white walls sparkles in the light of Italian glass chandeliers and carries royal signatures of coats of arms and life-sized peacocks. Vintage style is timeless with Brides due to its romance and nostalgia. The upcoming 1st anniversary of the royal wedding further proves its longevity.

Catwalk for a Cure at State Room

StateRoom is pleased to be hosting a fabulous fashion filled evening on October 13, 2011. The 2^nd Annual “Catwalk for a Cure” will feature a fashion show consisting of local designers including students, established designers, Project Runway contestant Wesley Nault, who will have the opportunity to showcase their work by creating and presenting their own “mini collection” (4-8 looks) for the fashion show. “Catwalk for a Cure” at State Room will be produced by Practically Broadway, Inc. in partnership with The Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. Proceeds from this Boston fashion show event will support breast cancer research and education.

According to their recent press release:

“ The fashion show incorporates local and professional, as well as student designers in the Greater Boston area looking to showcase their fashions for models, breast cancer survivors, Boston Celebrity Kelley Tuthill of WCVB Channel 5 news, and business professionals (doctors, surgeons, nurses etc.). Hair styling and makeup with be provided by Dellaria Salon and the Motives (celebrity Lauren Ridinger makeup line) makeup team.”

Tickets for the event will be $100.00 and include: passed hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktail created by State Room and Berkshire Mountain Distillers, silent auction, fashion show admission, gift bag, and post-fashion show reception. The silent auction items include Spa packages, Hotel packages, restaurant gift certificates, handbags, shoes and more!

As Event Designers, we are always seeking inspiration. Whether it's flipping through endless issues of our favorite magazines, getting lost in our favorite blogs, or just out to dinner with a few friends....inspiration can be found anywhere and everywhere.

Now that summer is in full swing, we can't help but be inspired by the bright pops of color that accompany our sunshine filled days. So in honor of Summertime fashion here are a few inspirations perfect for a summer wedding.

Summer Trend #1 - Coral Lipstick

We've noticed lipstick become ever so popular over the last year ranging from a bright cherry red to a fuschia... this Summer 2011 it is Coral. While Coral may be match your skin tone, it can certainly add some vibrant fun to your table settings. As seen above, the pops of coral make a bold statement against an otherwise demure color scheme.

Summer Trend #2 - The Color Yellow

Yellow. It's everywhere right now. Dresses, shoes, purses, and what better way to celebrate this fabulous summertime color than incorporate it in your next soiree. There are so many different options to work yellow into the mix, whether it be in your floral arrangements or on your placecard table, yellow is the perfect color to GET CREATIVE with!

Summer Trend #3 - White on White

Sure, white isn't something new. But white is everywhere these days. Especially the pairing of white... with white. Brides are choosing bridesmaid gowns in white and white table linens are paired with white chivari chairs... One thing is certain with white, it is the easiest way to achieve chic elegance. Do or Don't? Pets in Your Wedding

When we envision our dream wedding, we want to ensure that all of our loved ones are there to celebrate that special day. We scan and agonize over our guest lists, making sure we didn't leave anyone out, and anxiously await the RSVPs to roll in.

But what happens when one of our nearest and dearest family members can't exactly... open up & read a formal invitation? Their four paws just won't let them. Not everyone has pets, but for those of us who do, they are nothing short of our best friend or sibling. Our cats & dogs have been through our single days, our dating days and have inevitably become one of our most cherished & loyal companions (next to our fiancee of course!).

While it might not be the best idea to put your new platinum wedding band on the back of Fido, you still want to have you dog be part of the wedding ceremony. And of course, the countless options of doggie bridal wear, won't leave any decorative realm left untouched.

But before you throw your poodle in chiffon, here are some tips you should consider.

1. Are dogs allowed at your wedding ceremony and/or wedding venue? Outdoor wedding reception sites are your best bet, but you need to ask first. Just because a place may be outside, or your local stores allow dogs, you need to make sure first. Some times there are weight, size, & breed restrictions that you will have to consider.

2. Is your dog really well-behaved? Or are you the only person who thinks so? It's okay if you are, but your guests might not appreciate it. As much as this is YOUR DAY, a barking dog running circles while your ceremony is taking place, isn't exactly a great impression to give you guests.

3. Appoint someone to be on "puppy watch". This person can even walk your dog down the aisle, etc. This way you will not be distracted with your loveable furball decides to chase a squirrel from across the way. This should be someone your dog is already familiar with, and ahem, listens to.

4. Make sure to bring a water bowl, doggie bags, biscuits, bones and other various toys or two to the ceremony. A crate may also be a good idea.

5. While all of the wedding accessories for dogs out there are entertaining, hilarious, and quite cute, are they really practical? Make sure that anything you put on your dog will be comfortable so that they can run around.

And of course, last but not least, take a lot of pictures. How many times can you put a veil on a pug and still look sane?

January 2011 Inspiration: Vintage Chic

With the holidays behind us here at Longwood Events and winter still with us (sigh), we decided to embrace this cold, blistery weather with a table design to warm the senses...and heart.

With tones of cream & pearl white, this vintage chic inspired table design was created by an amazing collaboration. Rentals Unlimited helped us to set the stage with their "Sand Crushed Romance" Linen, Pearl Chiavari Ballroom Chairs, "Calvin" Glassware, and two plate chargers for added extra glimmer.

Aimee Empey of Paper, Gowns, & Glory added the finishing touches to this sleek, yet romantic table with her delicately made paper flowers and intricately designed bride in a birdcage, made completely from... you guessed it... paper.

Tarnished gold birdcages, sparkling sand, & rustic buckets & pails help to complete the look for the table setting.

And for the final touch, name cards were so sweetly added with, "Mr. Right" and "Mrs. Right" complimenting beige satin napkins. Perfect for a winter, "I do".

Lasting Love in Massachusetts

With all of the reports out there lately talking about how there are less couples getting hitched these days, we finally have some good news! In a recent study of marriage statistics throughout the U.S., couples married in Massachusetts stay married longer than any other place in the country! As opposed to all areas of the country, Massachusetts only has a 2.2% divorce rate. (Sorry we didn't want to mention the "d" word)

This exciting news is wonderfully comforting for all of us who have married or are planning on getting married in the Bay State! Long live love :)
