LONGWOOD GIVINGThe holidays are meant to be a joyous and happy time of year to be with family and friends. Unfortunately, for many, the upcoming holiday season can be a devastating time. More than 25% of children in Boston live in poverty, and each holiday season, thousands of children will go without essentials like a warm coat or a meal let alone gifts and toys that other children enjoy.

At LONGWOOD VENUES, we believe strongly in giving back to our community, and the spirit of giving is firmly embedded in our corporate culture. This year, we have come together to deliver holiday cheer to those in need through our Spirit of Giving campaign. LONGWOOD colleagues collaborated with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston to help make the season brighter for some of the 16,000 children and teens in their care through its annual holiday gift drive.

Each holiday season, Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) relies on generous supporters to collect gifts that are distributed to Boys & Girls Club members throughout the holidays. Many families struggle just to provide the necessities to their children, and their essential needs can seem even more pronounced at this time of the year. It’s hard to think about buying presents for their children when their main worry is how to feed them, and many of BGCB’s members would not receive any presents without this annual gift drive.

LONGWOOD is thrilled to be able to help bring the magic of the holidays to these children. We thank our employees for their generosity. The annual Spirit of Giving program is just one of the many ways we give back to the community. In addition to internal giving campaigns and participation with programs such as Feeding Our Neighbors, and Flower Angels USA, our charitable arm LONGWOOD GIVING provides philanthropic support to a variety of nonprofit organizations by assisting them with their fundraising efforts through well-executed events.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston has a long history of delivering effective, quality programming in a safe, caring and welcoming environment since 1893. They operate 11 Clubs throughout Boston to help address crucial youth development needs by providing real skills, igniting passions, and inspiring confidence about their future.
