One of the best feelings of working for Longwood is that there is so much love in our rooms day after day. If you are like us you love a good proposal story (especially when it takes place at one of our venues).
We are now getting so many requests for over the top private proposals. Most recently, we had the opportunity to work with Proposal Planner Michele Velazquez, 1/2 of The Heart Bandits. Michele collaborated with Oliver to create a very intimate and romantic proposal at the State Room. Engagement season is upon us so what better time to collaborate with Michele on our expert tips for creating the perfect proposal.
When talking to Michele about the couple we thought it was important to get some background information
MV: What really excited me about this proposal was that Oliver was referred to The Heart Bandits by a couple of brothers who we planned marriage proposals for earlier in the year. Also, Oliver’s plan was to completely surprise Rosemary with not only the proposal but by being in town at all. We love a good surprise!
MV: Oliver’s main focus was to find a gorgeous venue with phenomenal views. Once we found that, we used her favorite color pink as the inspiration for the ombre rose petal carpet and custom made pink votive. The harpist was an elegant addition creating ambiance in the room.
MV: Make it personal! The first question a woman is asked when she announces her engagement is, “How did he propose?” If your girlfriend has the same proposal story that a million other women have she isn’t going to be excited to share it. Make your proposal personal and unique to your relationship and she is sure to love it. (We completely agree!)
MV: Rosemary actually lives in Boston and Oliver wanted to surprise her in her city. We searched for the most beautiful room with views in Boston and State Room was the obvious choice.
…she said YES by the way! For more sneak peek photos check out Makayla Jade Creatives.
