From food and beverage to décor, weddings are becoming another way for eco-friendly brides to share their love of the great outdoors with their guests. Flower bulbs or packets of seeds in burlap and tied with a ribbon make cute favors or escort “cards”, while potted plants for centerpieces can be taken home and planted. Green menu choices emphasize fresh, local, and organic items.

Small decisions can have a big environmental impact. In lieu of printing out wedding information for every invitee, many brides are saving paper by creating a wedding website. One clever Belle Mer bride crafted save-the-dates from handmade paper with seeds embedded inside - when the card was planted, it created an instant garden.

As spring is officially here, with budding leaves and longer days, the Newport wedding season is about to begin! I'm looking forward to seeing some inspired green weddings from L:e brides.
